David Ott is one of the founding members of Acropolis Investment, LLC.

In addition to working with Private Clients and Retirement trustees, David serves the firm in a variety of capacities including serving as the head of the Investment Committee.  The Committee sets asset allocation policy, selects individual stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for the Approved List, and determines the broad fixed income strategy (duration, credit exposure, etc.) for clients.

David created Portfolio Insights, our quarterly newsletter covering markets, financial planning and economics and is still a co-editor.  He also writes a bi-monthly electronic newsletter, “Dave Ott’s Due Diligence” and contributes to the website with various blog posts and investment book reviews.

In addition to writing for Acropolis, David is contributor at Morningstar and Seeking Alpha, two well recognized financial websites.  He is a ‘Gold Certified Contributor’ at Seeking Alpha.

To demonstrate our commitment to high standards, David instituted and currently supervises the performance composite program and CEFEX certification from the Centre of Fiduciary Excellence.

David is also the original creator of the Acropolis Financial Forecaster®, although he readily concedes that Michael Lissner is the chief architect for the current version.

Previously in his career, David created the first FDIC-insured multi-currency CD (known today as the Geographic Index CD) that served as the foundation of more than a dozen multi-currency CDs with different currency and weighting construction methodologies.

In 2004, David and his wife created the Family Fertility Fund through BJC Hospital to help couples afford the high cost of infertility treatments.  Over the years, he and his wife helped raise more than $100,000 for the cause and are very proud to say that ten couples who received financial assistance had children of their own.

David also served as the Treasurer for three years while on the Board of Directors at Craft Alliance during his tenure on the Board between 2003 and 2007.  Currently, he serves on the Investment Committee for City Academy.

David earned a B.A. in Political Science from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA.  He is a St. Louis native and enjoys time with his wife of more than ten years and two elementary school age daughters.
