Thanksgiving Dinner Will Cost More This Year

According to Bloomberg economist Michael McDonough, American consumers shopping for this year’s Thanksgiving dinner will pay 3.6% more than last year.

The year-over-year increase is double the pace at which the CPI’s food at home index has risen.  McDonough attributes the increase in part to the increased costs of frozen turkeys due to higher feed costs and reduced stock.

On the bright side, the average cost of wine fell 14.6% from last year, due to weaker demand from recession-weary consumers as well as a larger supply of wine.
